Precision Medicine

The NECA/IBEW Family Medical Care Plan (FMCP) is proud to introduce our Precision Care Program for members taking five or more medications and who would like a more personalized, precision level of pharmacy support.

Please take a moment to view our explainer video above (for sound, click the Watch Video tab at upper right) and then scroll down to see how this innovative program uses Precision Medicine tools to continuously personalize your medications to remove or reduce your medication-related health risk.

STEP 1

Pharmacogenomic Saliva Test

We Identify the Right Medicine, in the Right Dosage, at the Right Time

To help your doctor confidently prescribe the right drugs and dosages for you, results from a self-administered genetic test will show your precise drug-to-gene interactions.

You and your doctor will first receive a detailed report with recommended changes to your drug regimen, so we can include any prescription changes prior to dispensing your medications.

STEP 2

Removing Side Effects
from Nutrient Depletion

Identifying and removing medication-related side effects caused when a drug depletes the body’s essential nutrients and vitamins

In particular, drugs for chronic conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, frequently lead to low energy, sleep loss, joint pain, depression, and many other issues.

You and your doctor will receive a detailed report of the depleted nutrients and side effects caused by your medicine. Upon request by you and your physician, we will dispense any needed vitamins or supplements.

STEP 3

Enhancing Medication Adherence – Strip Packaging/Home Delivery

Our program removes health risks caused by medication non-adherence. After aligning your medicines to your unique genetics and biology, we use our innovative adherence strip-packaging to safely organize by day and time, everything we dispense for you.

Your clearly labeled packets will be discrete and travel-friendly, and will serve to avoid the common mistakes of missing, doubling up, or taking the wrong dose.

Medication Management

Each month, we will review with your doctor any changes in your prescribed and over-the-counter (OTC) medications, vitamins, and herbal or nutritional supplements to ensure there are no new drug-to-drug or drug-to-gene interactions.

By coordinating these precision data points and any medication changes with your prescribing doctor, our continuous support occurs prior to dispensing and mailing anything to you.

With the Precision Care Program’s personalized focus and the personal touch of a personal pharmacist, we proactively reduce your medication-related “gaps in care” and health risk.

Your Personal Pharmacist Will Monitor on a Monthly Basis

Avoiding Risk of Contraindications

a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment due to the potential risk of patient harm

Avoiding Risk of Drug-to-Drug Interactions (Pharmacodynamics)

this risk can often be avoided, simply by shifting involved dosage to a different time of the day

Avoiding Risk of Drug-Drug-Gene Interactions (Pharmacokinetics)

when multiple drugs require the same gene to work properly (activation or elimination), those drugs must be administered at different times of the day to be both safe & effective

Avoiding Cumulative Drug Risk

taking multiple drugs with the same side effects can be very dangerous, but properly planned times of administration can reduce this risk
